Upgrade Flare 10.2 possible malware?
Upgrade Flare 10.2 possible malware?
Just tried downloading and then installing the Flare 10.2 upgrade and AVAST antivirus came up with a potential 'Win32:Evo-gen' malware blocker. Anyone aware of this ? I don't really want to scrub my PC just yet.

I encountered the same issue and already informed MadCap. I'd assume it to be a false positive.

It is a false positive.
It seems to happen with all Setup.exe files moving them from a network source or downloading the exe from the web.
We have attempted to contact AVAST and wait for their response.
We extensively test for any malware/virus issues prior to every release as part of our QA process. If you find that you cannot get around this, please ask your Sales Associate or Support Rep for an alternate download link that contains the needed files in a zip archive. This allows you to get past most issues like this.

I struck this. Avast has a menu option to disable it for 10 minutes, 1 hour or until next boot. Just disable it for 10 minutes, do the install and all's well.

Or maybe get rid of Avast entirely, since it is a drain lol

Of the free AV apps it is one of the better ones as far as detections / protection goes. They are all a drain on performance....although not as bad as Panda.

It could be worse. We use Microsoft's MSE here at work. Even Microsoft once suggested you don't use it. If there's anything on our machines that stands like a well dressed, freshly groomed doorman outside a luxury hotel welcoming Mr & Mrs. Malware and family, then MSE is it.TorontoFlare wrote:Or maybe get rid of Avast entirely, since it is a drain lol

I've had this problem with just about every version of Flare. It's possible to add an exclusion to Avast. Go to Settings >Active Protection >File system Shield (click the little gear) > Exclusions > Add. Add the path to the flare folder (C:\Program Files...)
