Good afternoon fellow properllerheads.
I am looking for some help to add a Favorites tab (bookmarks) to the HTML5 Skin on a project.
I know it's possible when using the Default (WebHelp) Skin on Flare, but I'm using the HTML5 skin and it's not an option in that one.
Is there a way (scripted or not) to add a custom tab to the navigation menu to have Favorites setup there? I figure I'd add a custom "Add to Favorites" button to the master page that would save bookmarks to a folder in their bookmark folder (named something like Flare Bookmarks) and find a way to show that folder in the custom Favorites tab on the navigation pane, but it's a bit out of my league at this point to attempt by myself.
Any direction or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,
Kevitto
Edit: Added information: all users run on Internet Explorer 8 (it's an internal tool) so there's no need for compatibility other than that browser for now.
Adding Custom Feature (Favorites) to HTML5 Skin
Re: Adding Custom Feature (Favorites) to HTML5 Skin
If you're planning on modifying the skin, then you'll probably need to do this via the skin toolbar script.
For information on how to do this see these posts to get you started:
http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 86#p100069
http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 878#p99068
That will show how you can insert HTML content in the header and include your own stylesheet; you could use the same principles to try and insert the HTML required for a new tab.
How you actually store the bookmarks for the user is another matter, although if you use Google you might find a solution that you can adapt.
I wouldn't say this is a task for a beginner though, I think you need a little web development knowhow.

Re: Adding Custom Feature (Favorites) to HTML5 Skin
Thanks for the answer, Dave. I can do with that. I've inserted a couple of custom scripts to the master pages before and I have a bit of a web development background so I can piece together an answer with the resources you've given me.
Your help was greatly appreciated!
