I plugged in the name of the stylesheet I wanted to use for my project.
My project seems to aim for the Default stylesheet. I don't think I set this anywhere, or even if it can be set.
Is there a way to configure the project for a specific stylesheet medium, such as print or non-print?

You set the medium on the target, on the Advanced tab. Your project "default" medium will be the medium of your primary target, so that's the medium that will be used for the styles shown in Flare's XML editor.

Re: Print, Non-Print, and Default Stylesheets
Hi all,
I started learning Flare about a week ago, so I'm not surprised I'm having trouble, but Im stillsad.
I edited my styles on the default style sheet, and it didn't trickle over to the print style sheet. Fine. When I'm generating a word output, I went to the advanced tab in the target menu, and changed the medium to "default". I still get the "print" medium in my output.
Am I just going to have to manually change the all the "print" styles to match the "default" styles?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Re: Print, Non-Print, and Default Stylesheets
Hi Licoricespice, welcome to the forums!
The print medium is intended for printing from a 'web' site.
For most work, particularly when starting out, make your changes to the default medium. That will affect both electronic and print output (provided you have selected that particular stylesheet).
I'm a fan of the print version looking as close to the electronic version as possible (I'm a bit old fashioned in that respect) so this workflow works for me. If I need a specific style for either type of output I'll create it in the default stylesheet and use conditions on the topic to control which piece of styled text is used in each output.
I'd suggest you make a backup of your stylesheets before making any changes. You can also edit the stylesheet in a text editor, so all the changes you've made under the print media can be cut and paste into the default section...

A note of caution: if you are editing your stylesheet in a text editor, it is possible to break it without realising, and it can take ages to trace and fix a problem (I once broke mine just by leaving off a semi-colon.)
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2024r2.

If you use a text editor with a coding plugin (such as notepad++) they quite often include syntax checking which can identify missing operands.
It's also good practice in a cascading style sheet to add the semi colon to all lines in a style. Although it is optional for a single line dec, if you add another line later you will need to go back to the frist line and make sure it ends in a semicolon. I've been caught that way in the past, so I add it as a matter of course now.
