Snippets and Autonumbers in TOC

Post by eco1 »

Hi all,
I am using snippets in my documentation and I have a problem with the autonumbers of my TOC. Are there any known issues/bugs and workarounds for PDF targets? The numbers within the snippets are counting higher within the wrong heading level - this results in e.g. 2.1.8 instead of 2.1.5:

2.1 Introduction and Terminology
2.1.1 Image Layer
2.1.2 Image Data Set
2.1.3 Segmentation and classification
2.1.4 Image Objects, Hierarchies and Domains
2.1.8 Scenes, Maps, Projects and Workspaces
2.1.12 eCognition Architect

Thanks for any help and hint...

Whenever I've had problems with auto-numbers, it's always been because some other style with auto-numbers has been incrementing too. Have a very careful look at the styles you use in the content between 2.1.4 and 2.1.8 and 2.1.8 and 2.1.12. You may well find something else with an auto-number that is incorrectly incrementing the heading 3 one, and hence pushing the others up incorrectly.

This happened to me only last week. Look carefully for figures and tables, steps etc. If it's none of those, search for auto-number in your stylesheet and inspect all occurrences of all styles that use it.

Also check that you haven't specified the start number for the ones that are a bit odd.
