We have variable Names with hyphens and underlines (no spaces).
When variables appear in a topic title (h1), the correct Definitions appear in the topic. However, the title that appears in the TOC contains an Undefined error message, for example:
Adding Users in [[[Undefined variable _Administrator.O-Product]]]
Surprisingly, the correct Definition appears in both the Index dropdowns and the Search Results titles. Why can't Flare display the correct Definition for the TOC title?

Re: Variables undefined in TOC titles
The correct syntax for variables in a TOC is:
[%=VariableSet.VariableName%]
This can be seen by dragging a topic that contains a variable in the heading into the TOC.
Here is a topic in the help that explains it:

Re: Variables undefined in TOC titles
Rob, I'm not sure you've understood my situation; I'm talking about the output (my example), not the source (your example).
The TOC entry in the source will display as in your example, with no error at all of course.
However, if the source VariableName from your example is actually Variable_Name or Variable-Name, the result in the output TOC entry will result in:
[[[Undefined variable Variable_Name]]] or
[[[Undefined variable Variable-Name]]
As I mentioned, the output Definition for the variable (such as "My Variable") appears correctly in topics, Index drop-downs, and Search Results listings, but not in the TOC output.
I suspect a Bug Report is in order, here.

Re: Variables undefined in TOC titles
Hello Leon,
This appears isolated to Web based outputs if the Variable File names contain an underscore or hyphen. A bug has been filed.
The work-around would be to rename the variable file removing these characters. In Flare 10, the links in the topics will update to the renamed variable file.

Re: Variables undefined in TOC titles
Yes, I figured out the obvious need for removing those characters, given the current Flare behavior.
As to the links in the topics updating to the renamed variables...not so much! That is, Flare caught most, but not all, of them. You might want to update the bug report to include that deficiency.
To repeat (if anyone else lands on this page), this issue presents itself only in the TOC output, but not in the output topics, Index drop-downs, and Search Results listings.
Thx
