*Edited: meant header files, not alias files*
We have multiple header files and we'd like to exclude some from an HTML5 output. We applied a conditional text tag to the header files to be excluded, and then marked up the output to exclude that tag. However, the tagged header files are included in the output. Ideas?

Re: cannot exclude header files from html5 outputs
Try moving the links inside the body tags and set the type attribute of the paragrah or div to hidden:
In this example I have the paragraph conditionally tagged for Print Only.
Code: Select all
<p type="hidden" MadCap:conditions="Default.PrintOnly">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="css/style.css" />
</p>

Re: cannot exclude header files from html5 outputs
Hi kwag_myers,
The header files don't have body tags. They are dot-h files, that is, files with the extension .h.
Thanks anyway!

But you're trying to exclude them from the HTML, correct?

Yes, I'm trying to exclude some header files from the HTML5 output. I applied the conditional tag to the file. The file itself simply lists several #DEFINE lines of code. No body tags to speak of. Thanks!

Re: cannot exclude header files from html5 outputs
Open a topic in the Text Editor. You should have a #include <something.h> for each header file in between the <head> </head> tags.
If so, move one of them to just below the <body> tag:
I don't use dot-h files, so I can't test it.

Code: Select all
</head>
<body>
<div type="hidden" MadCap:conditions="Default.PrintOnly">
#include <something.h>
</div>

Thanks, kwag_myers. The .h files are not explicitly included in the topics. Note: The .h files are in Project Organizer under the Advanced folder. Eager for more suggestions. Best, Pamela

Is this a condition tag that you've been using for the same output? That is, have you confirmed that the condition tag you're using is set to be excluded from that HTML5 target?pdenchfield wrote:Yes, I'm trying to exclude some header files from the HTML5 output. Re: cannot exclude header files from html5 outputs
Thanks, Lisa. Yes, I've confirmed that the condition tag is marked for exclusion in the target file used to generate the HTML5 output.
