Solidworks Composer files

Post by Robert Hardy »

All,
Anybody used Flare with Solidworks Composer?
I am planning to use this program and import the subsequent files (picture and video) into Flare, anybody used these together? anything to beware of?

We actually just upgraded to SolidWorks 2014 and I noticed the Composer icon, but I don't actually use SolidWorks so I don't know anything about that program, but now I'm curious about it.

What's your thought on using it? Having it pull in info from a Flare output or having Flare pull in info from SolidWorks? I imagine the latter would be a bit tricky with PDM Workgroup or PDM Enterprise.

separate program that we are looking into, to enable us to use our Solidworks files, but we have at present not much idea of how to integrate them into the Flare output.
The Composer files are svg, png or avi for movies, so we probably can import them somehow, I am just going to download a trial of Flare to see what crashes or works with Composer.
Our output will be paper copies when our product is used in the EU (a legal requirement) and possibly Webhelp for the rest, hosted on one of our servers and accessible to our end users. The paper output will obviously be limited in that it cannot have avi files incorporated.
I have been sent some sample files to work with, so here goes...

To compound matters we use Conisio to store and track all our documents, I still have to see if this and Flare can work together.
:D
I plan to post here anything useful I find, but, as usual, have to get through the daily work as well! :D
