Highlighting text for applying spans

Post by ChoccieMuffin »

Hi all

Just thought I'd let you know that I've put in this feature request, because it's been annoying the hell out of me for ages. If you also agree that this is a good idea, please feel free to submit a request as well.

Subject: When double-clicking text to highlight it, allow user to not include trailing space in selection

Product: Flare

Description:
I frequently apply a span to text that represents software terms, so I do not want to include the trailing space. Unfortunately the only way I can currently select text without the trailing space is by very carefully click-and-dragging, as I can't even Shift-Backspace to de-select the end space. I would like to be able to use double-click to select text for a span, as it's a lot quicker and more accurate.

The ideal location for this setting is in the Options dialog box.
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2024r2.

Agreed - this extra space is annoying. I'll also put in a request.

OMG this is so annoying. It is gratifying to know that others feel the same way. It is horrifying to realize this was posted SIX years ago.

What on earth is the logic of including that extra space?

Bump.

Looks like this has been requested a number of times.

It would be a significant quality-of-life improvement to just select the word when double-clicking. Any word on whether this was considered and accepted/rejected by MadCap?
