Exporting Excel (xls*) to Flare Variable Set (flvar)

Hello!

I have a substantial set of string variables (~10,000) that I use for the UI, each localized for the supported languages. I then utilize these reference these variables by name in the Flare project. The common source is a SQL database that I output to CSV that is utilized by the UI. I need to convert the CSV (or Excel) file to a properly formatted Flare variable set (*.flvar file).

Anyone have a VBA or other script to convert either CSV or Excel files to flvar files?

This is messy, but you could insert columns into the Excel file and in the columns include the XML text that you need before the variable name and definition. Then copy the data of those columns down. Then export the whole thing as a csv with a custom csv delimiter (space).

Could you save your Excel file as a XML file and then perform an xsl Transformation? I've done this a couple of times and it usually works pretty well.
