Index: Removing the entire existing index
How do I remove an existing index? Index entries appear in multiple books. I want to delete everything in one shot and start fresh.

Re: Index: Removing the entire existing index
Just to clarify, you want to remove all the index entries, or you just want the final thing not to have an index? What format?
If the second (and you're generating a printed output) make sure the "auto-generate index" option (or whatever it's called) is NOT selected in the target or, if you have an Index topic in your TOC, remove it.
If the first, I suspect you'd need to delete the index entries individually, but to do that you don't need to open every topic to do that. On the View tab click Index Window. In the Index window, right-click an index entry and on the menu click Remove keyword. Flare then shows you which file(s) will be updated. Click OK to remove the index entry from the files. Work your way down the list.
Hope that helps.

Oops, went to add a note about using the Index Window to delete them, and then realized ChoiccieMuffin already provided the same information. Ignore.
