Use a topic with multiple conditions

Post by plowright »

Conditioning woes.

I feel like this should be possible, but I also feel like it probably isn't.

One topic containing a table with two rows (and a heading).

The first row varies depending on where in the document it's located (procedural documentation).

Ideally, I would like to condition the first paragraph so that I have three different rows depending on the location of this topic in the Table of Contents.

That means that I want to use the same topic in three locations in the table of contents with different conditions applied. (In one instance it would use Condition 1, in another Condition 2, in the third Condition 3). [If it wasn't part of a table, I could just use separate topics, but with the table it doesn't work so well.] It seems like it should work (create different tables of contents and stitch them into a master table of contents for the final output), but that's not what's happening. I'm not sure if I'm applying them wrong or if I've created a fantasy scenario. [I'm using Flare 9, btw.]

Is this possible? (Should I be looking at reuse using something different that conditions?)

Thanks for the help!

I haven't actually tried this, but I think snippet conditions might get the result you want:

Thanks, Kellie!

That's just the sort of thing I was thinking of. Although it's a little strange to have to maintain topics as well as snippets, at least it means there's only one original source!
