Warning 20010: Failed to copy and resize image

Post by McGarrett »

Flare allegedly has a nice feature that will cause it to create pre-scaled versions of images when it generates a target.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to work, at least not for .PNG files. Instead of pre-scaled images, you get a whole raft of warning message:

Code: Select all

Failed to copy and resize image: C:\home\svn\misc\alignplus_asap\AlignPlusASAPDevelopersGuide\AlignPlusASAPDevelopersGuide_EN\Content\Resources\Images\TwoStationAssembly_alignment_alignment_align_platform.png: Parameter is not valid.
You can suppress the warning (which is causing me other problems) by setting

Code: Select all

PreCompileScaledImages="false"
in the target file.

Can anyone tell me how to get this feature to work?

Thanks,
Ed

Stab in the dark...

Are you using source control?

Yes I am -- is it trying to overwrite something?

I just make sure that everything was locked/checked out before building, but no change in the results.

And I am not binding the project to source control.

Reason I asked is the message says failed to copy and resize...

So I was wondering if Flare was unable to use the original due to source control restrictions. From the look of your investigations we can probably rule that out. The final test would be to place a copy of the image in your project outside of source control and change the image link to the local copy.

Like I said, stab in the dark...

Warning 20010: Failed to copy and resize image: [path to image]: Parameter is not valid.

I'm seeing this error as well, for multiple .png images. I tried saving a local copy of one of the offending images as .bmp (NOT checked into source control) and inserting the image into a topic, then building the target. Saw the error for new .bmp image as well. Running Flare 10 on Windows 8.

What is the consequence of unchecking the box in the target for Advanced > Generate resized copies of scaled images?

And why is Flare tampering with my images that are NOT scaled?

Here's an example of one of the images that triggered the warning. Notice that no scaling, sizing, or other attributes were applied to the image.

Code: Select all

<td class="TableStyle-Basic-BodyB-Column1-Body1"><b>Delete</b> (<img src="../images/delete-red-x.png" />)</td>
Thanks!

I worked with Flare TS and they identified a bug in flare (96855). Specifically, if height: auto; is set on the img tag in the CSS, this error occurs. You can stop the error by removing that option.

Thanks, McGarrett! I confirmed that the errors disappear if I remove height: auto; from the img tag in the CSS.

Bah, I am getting these errors, but I'm using the height-auto for responsive output. I hope this gets resolved soon.
