How to map Frame styles to basic Flare styles?

Post by adelleolson »

I am a new user, importing from FrameMaker. I have styles such as Heading1, Heading2, and Body. How do I map my styles to Flare's without ending up with the "child" styles such as h2.Heading2 and p.Body? I just want to mapping my Heading1 directly to h1, Heading2 to h2, and Body to p.

Have you tried to set the source styles to "Don't preserve FrameMaker styles"? This setting is found on the Stylesheet tab in your Import file.

I am a new user also to Flare and am interested in this issue. If we are choosing to Preserve FrameMaker Styles, we will end up with a substantial number of child formats representing our imported FrameMaker styles.

Is there any recommended way of reconciling our imported Framemaker styles with the existing Flare standard HTML styles? For example, ideally we would like to just select the standard Flare h1 style for a heading 1 rather than have to select the child style h1.<our framemaker h1 style name>.

Similarly, the Flare guides state that "The import process does not support mapping numbered lists from FrameMaker to CSS list item li styles". Does this mean that we have to continue using our Framemaker numbered list styles or is there some way of reconciling these with the standard <ol>, <li> styles? We have three separate Framemaker styles for handing numbered lists.

Thanks and sorry if this question has already been answered.
