Dear madcaps,
I have a presentation authored in PowerPoint and need it to stay in that for various reasons of sharing and executing round the organisation. I also want to include it in my guide which I am building in Flare as online output. In a perfect world I would like to include a link to the presentation and then, on clicking the link, the presentation would run (if I save as a slide show.). Several of the slides have build features that I need to keep, and I want it in the control of the user.
Yes, I know that Flare now offers slide authoring, I haven't yet explored this, but anyway this won't do as we only want one source and it's unreasonable to say to the client we can't use Powerpoint which is, as with most organisations, embedded.
I asked a similar question 4 years ago so I am hoping there's a better answer: How can I incorporate a slide show, with animations into a flare output?
Many Thanks
liz

Re: Add Powerpoint Presentation to Flare
Hi Liz,
As far as I know, you can't import a PowerPoint show (.pps) into Flare.
However, could you convert the PowerPoint slideshow to a movie and import it into Flare that way, so that the animations are included? That way you keep the PowerPoint source and have a way of importing it into Flare as well.
I think that feature is available in PowerPoint 2010.

Re: Add Powerpoint Presentation to Flare
There is a native Flare Slideshow that was introduced in 10.0 also. That might be worth checking out, though it would not solve your problem.

Re: Add Powerpoint Presentation to Flare
Flare's Slideshow functionality is not akin to PowerPoint slides or a slideshow of PowerPoint slides. Two very different things. This is not to say that it can't be used to emulate a PowerPoint slideshow.
Info about Flare's Slideshow functionality is here: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... eshows.htm
An example of a Flare slideshow in action is here: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... Guides.htm

RETIRED, but still fond of all the Flare friends I've made. See you around now and then!

You can include a link to a PowerPoint file, and it will open in PowerPoint (if you have it). Same as you can for PDFs, Word files, etc.lizat wrote:In a perfect world I would like to include a link to the presentation and then, on clicking the link, the presentation would run (if I save as a slide show.).
I'm assuming you've tried that though - did it not work?
