How can I get this stupid border off my topic container?
I want to punch it in the face. I just want to have it where the topic container flows seamlessly with the header.

I don't think you can remove the border from the 'topic container' in the skin.
To get round this, I'd suggest adding a skin stylesheet - described here: https://ukauthor.wordpress.com/2014/08/ ... tml5-skin/
Then in this stylesheet, remove the border from the container div#contentBodyInner.

Oh, I'm already using your skin stylesheet, Dave. You're a god among men. Thank you.

Hmmm...it's not working. I mean, I just threw it in the CSS (see screenshot) bc CSS expert I am not.

Strange - works fine for me in the browsers I have.
When I inspect the output in developer tools (press F12), the file styles.css has this:
The CSS I've added should override this, i.e. the border-style is being set to none instead of solid.
You could try adding separate border-left/right/top instead I suppose.

background-color: #fff;
border-left: 1px solid #e1e1e1;

border-top: 1px solid #e1e1e1;You could try adding separate border-left/right/top instead I suppose.

Is this something that I am possibly not seeing because I need to publish it to a website? BC right now I am just using "view" to view the output....it hasn't been published. I'm wondering if this is why some of my jquery code (show/hide) is FUBAR too.
Re: How can I get this stupid border off my topic container?
I'm just building it locally.
If the rest of the CSS in that stylesheet is working, then that means it is loading the stylesheet, and should work.
The first and best way to troubleshoot anything like this is to use the browser developer tools (F12) or Firebug for Firefox (my first choice) - you can use these to inspect the elements and see exactly what CSS is being applied and from where.
