Hi all,
I worked with Flare some years ago and back then it only supported XHTML (although the integrated editor was already called "XML Editor"). Is there now an option to use a customized DTD? Or is a standard such as DITA supported?
Please excuse this basic question, I did some research on Madcap's site but did not find infos about this.

Does Flare support a customized DTD?
Re: Does Flare support a customized DTD?
I did some more reading on the madcap site (including the online help) and find it a bit frustrating that I cannot find more information. There are statements such as that the XML editor "represents the underlying XML structure of a document", but no information which XML structures are supported or how an own XML structure would be used.
Any comments from your side would greatly help me.

Robert, I think you haven't gotten an answer here on the peer-to-peer user forums because no one here has an answer for you. I suggest that you contact MadCap directly. Start by contacting sales, who I'm confident will put you in touch with knowledgeable MadCap staff.

Re: Does Flare support a customized DTD?
Hi Robert,
I can't really add much more, other than to emphasise what Nita has already said about asking MadCap directly.
I might be going off topic here, but if you are looking to add your own xml elements for your own purposes, from previous experience this tends to work okay. For example, We made a tool that added a <review> tag to our targets to track the review history, review comments etc. This worked fine and if you later edited the target in Flare, the <review> tag and the data within remained.
I'm not sure how well custom elements would work in topics themselves though I guess they would be fine, as long as they were outside of the body element, but I couldn't confirm this with certainty.
