How to auto collapse all drop downs and expanding text

I've searched high and low because I SWEAR I saw this exact question before, but alas, I am stuck.

I want my HTML5 output to show all drop downs and expanded text as collapsed when the user first enters a topic. For some reason this works inconsistently in my output. Sometimes they're open and sometimes they're closed.

Here are the places I've checked:
1. When inserting the expanding text/drop down, I looked for an option to have it start off as expanded or collapsed.
2. Skin settings
3. Target settings
4. Style sheet/style settings for the expanded text/drop down hot spot effects.

Am I missing something?

Yeah, I remember one or two on that topic as well (this one, maybe? Toggle: Is expand all an automatic display option?).

However, I don't think what you've described is a setting as it is random, but maybe something within the topic. I had this issue once, which was caused by a bookmark or keyword somewhere within the drop-down. Unfortunately, I cannot recreate it, so I can't say exactly what it was.

Thanks - the expand all togglers topic was more on track with what I'm experiencing, except I want the opposite to happen, and I'm using drop downs and expanding text.

Any other thoughts on whether or not this is even a feature in Flare? I could have sworn there was some sort of option to have them auto expanded or collapsed.

The only feature I'm aware of is on either the toolbar or topic toolbar of the output, which is then only available to the end user.

I want to be clear on this; according to Flare Help "collapsed" is the default state for both of these features. If you have some topics in collapsed and some expanded state, I would look at the individual topics. Also, in the aforementioned topic Expanding text issues, the OP switched everything to Drop-Down and the problem was solved.

I too noticed that using dropdowns (Flare V 13), some would be collapsed and some expanded in my HTML5 Top Navigation Output. Finally located an explanation for this elsewhere on the forum (after much time spent comparing dropdown code in the text editor and finding no explanation) :

Apparently when a user searches for a term and opens a topic listed in their search results, Flare will expand any dropdown within that topic which contains the search term. If the same topic is arrived at via the navigation, or by directly entering the URL, all dropdowns will be in their default (collapsed) state.
