I'm I missing something?
I thought that Capture allowed annotations without affecting the original image?
Because I need to make some quick updates to a document, I skipped my normal workflow and saved the screen captures directly in the project folder (rather than an image archive - which is copied to the project folder).
This means that when I opened Capture (directly from Flare) to add annotations, it flattened those annotations to the only copy of each image. What? Wait! What?? Putting aside all the terrible annoyances of MadCap Capture, is there a way to extract the embedded "CLEAN" version of this image from Capture? I need to make some [basic] edits to the clean version... basic editing that Capture cannot seem to accomplish. Seriously, why can't I trim a white space from within the image (from the middle), in order to reduce the image's vertical footprint.

Re: Annotating an image with Capture
Hi there,
The original image is stored in the MadCap Capture properties (image name.props) file as a Base64 string.
Having had a quick browse, you can probably use the following website to convert the Base64 string back into an image:
http://www.askapache.com/online-tools/b ... converter/
Let me know if you need me to be more specific (I am having issues with my Capture license at the moment and cannot open Capture).

Alternatively, open Capture and re-save the image without the annotations. Then, in Flare click Tools > Regenerate Captured Images (I don't use the ribbon so not sure where that option will be on the ribbon). The image should be back to its original state.

Actually, I was unaware of this feature. Thank you.Paulie wrote:Alternatively, open Capture and re-save the image without the annotations. I didn't actually need to do this but it is nice to know. Fortunately, Snagit stores the last x number of images so it was easy to revert back to the original via Snagit.
