Hello all
I'm building a project with a Website Output and PDF Output in Version 10 of Madcap Flare.
To get my title page and Table of Contents to display in the printed output, I have added a page to my TOC page called "Title Page" which is linked to a Print Only Topic for my cover page; and a page called "TOC proxy", which is linked to the Print Only Topic with the Table of Contents Proxy.
That's worked great, except now when I generate my user guide the first two items in the generated Table of Contents are the title of the user guide, and "Table of Contents".
So my question is: How do I get the Title Page and Table of Contents to show up in the correct places in the guide, but not show up as items in the Table of Contents itself?
Thanks
M Hetherington

Do you have headings on those pages, e.g. a Heading1 on your title page that says Title Page and another on your TOC page that says Table of Contents? If the pages are blank, except for the TOC proxy, I wouldn't have thought they would appear in the generated table of contents.

Re: Hide Title Page and TOC proxy in TOC
Good thinking. The TOC Proxy did have a H1 heading, and removing that has fixed the issue.
The title page is using a different style called ManualTitle2, and I can't see any way to control whether that appears in the TOC. There's nothing in the page layout linked to the title page either. I'll keep digging on that one.
Thank you for your help

In your stylesheet, set the "mc-heading-level" attribute of ManualTitle2 to 0. That will keep it out of the generated table of contents.mhetherington wrote:The title page is using a different style called ManualTitle2, and I can't see any way to control whether that appears in the TOC. Re: Hide Title Page and TOC proxy in TOC
I did that, but it hasn't removed the line from the TOC.
Oddly, I have two TOCs for two different guides, both of which are using the same styles and referring to the same page layout. But one is showing this heading in the TOC and the other is not (and is also using different formatting on the title page).

Forgive the obvious questions but do you have two different stylesheets? Or, do you have one stylesheet that has different mediums, and one of your targets uses one of the mediums as its default medium and the other target uses the other medium? In which medium did you set the mc-heading-level to 0?

That may have been an obvious question to you, but it was really random to a n00b like me.
That hasn't fixed the issue, although it has had some effect on the formatting of the title page.

Thanks for posting this and showing me I'm not insane. I'm having the exact same problem with Flare 11 and it's a bit further down the same PDF Targets section on here.
A previous project doesn't do this, but this one does. I can't see any difference between the two.

Re: Hide Title Page and TOC proxy in TOC
I just went back through the project after reading the above comments and found a 'ghost' H1 in the XML. It didn't show up on the editor view but must have been left over from the topic I created prior to making it 'Frontmatter'. Don't know if it helps, but hope so.
