Hello all,
I am seeking advice on how MadCap creates their excellent new product announcement mailers.
For example: The MadCap v11 or MadCap Capture v7 announcements.
I am assuming the following:
- They use MadCap Flare to publish HTML 5 content.
- The mailer is hosted on a public access page. (For example, MadCap Capture 7's new announcement is hosted here: http://www.madcapsoftware.com/email/201 ... ntent.html)
But this is what I do not know:
- Is there a MadCap template available to create a similar mailer (I don't think so)
- What parameters are required?
- How is the page inserted in an email in order to appear perfectly formatted?
- What other software tools are used to send out a email blast?
Thanks for your advice.

Re: Creating mailers like MadCap does?
Why do you assume that they use Flare to produce the content?
Looking at the HTML, I would guess that they don't.
If you want to email HTML content, then you just need to create a regular HTML page that doesn't use any javascript. You'd probably want to include all your styles in the head section, rather than have them in a linked CSS file. Images would usually be linked to a location on your server. It is possible to embed images in the styles/CSS using base-64 encoding, but it's unlikely you'll need or want to do that.
Anyway, you could probably design the page in Flare, but you'd probably have to strip out a few things from the output (like script references).
