Issues with updating styles

Post by AnjanaDevarakonda »

Hi,

I have created a div class called DivExample and have applied it for all the 'examples' in my document.
I have made changes to the original style in terms of font color and background. For some strange reason flare doesn't update the style universally. It sticks to the old one.

Any particular reason? Is there a way to troubleshoot this? HELP!

The first thing I would check is to verify that you made the style changes in the right medium in your stylesheet. (It would help us, btw, to know what kind of target you're producing, for example, HTML5? PDF?) Open the stylesheet in Flare's Internal Text Editor and search for the style. If you find it among the @media print styles, is that where you want it, so that it applies to your print output only and not to your HTML5 output? If you didn't intend to put it there, you can cut-and-paste it from there up into the default area of the stylesheet.

Thanks Nita. You are just amazing. You know exactly what's wrong and point it out. Thank you so much.
I didn't check the medium. I changed the style in print and was wondering why It didn't change in the online medium.

Glad to know you've solved the issue. And, I'm hardly "amazing" (but thanks anyway!). Rather, the same issues come up again and again here on the forums, so it's easy to recognize the issue. Practically ALL of us have made this same "newbie" mistake. Frankly, I think it's a bit of a flaw in Flare's UI that one can make this mistake so easily.

Eventually, as you become more skilled with Flare, you should consider editing your stylesheet directly in the Internal Text Editor. For instance, if you know that you want to tweak a margin, padding, or a font size, it's much quicker to go right into the stylesheet in the Internal Text Editor, do a Ctrl F to search for the name of the style or something else that might get you to the right place quickly, and then edit by hand and save.

No! you are just being modest. :) This was the third time you answered my query and exactly pointed out the 'missing' links. Thanks for all the support.

About the internal editor, yes, I agree. It's easier to edit certain things directly from the style sheet. I am slightly comfortable using the internal editor now as compared to the starting days of using Flare.
