I have a small bit of text that is conditioned to show in web output
I added a condition to exclude
It's not excluded
I remove the web output condition, then it is excluded
is this the desired behavior? kinda makes sense but please advise, thx

Re: Exclude condition not applied
The default behaviour is that a condition is included, unless it is specifically excluded.
So if you have some text that has two conditions and only one condition is excluded, that text will be included.
It is possible to exclude text that has two conditions by either: a) excluding both conditions (but you might not want to do that) or; b) use the Advanced bit of the condition editor (sorry, not in Flare at the mo so the name might be wrong). If you want to do this I suggest you look at the help as it can be a bit confusing.

Re: Exclude condition not applied
I don't think that's right. If content has two conditions set on it, and the target excludes one condition (so the Exclude box is selected) but doesn't explicitly include the other condition (so neither of that condition's check boxes is selected), the content is excluded. I just ran a test and got that result.ChoccieMuffin wrote:So if you have some text that has two conditions and only one condition is excluded, that text will be included.
My understanding has always been that an *explicit* Include (the Include box is selected) trumps an Exclude (the Exclude box is selected) which in turn trumps an *implicit* Include (the Include box is not selected).

Beg 'pardon, Nita, you are of course quite right. <hangs head in shame>

Oh, Choccie, please don't feel shamed. It was not my intention whatsoever to make you feel shamed! Rather, I felt it important to point out what I thought was faulty information.

Nita's right, Choccie. No reason to feel down on yourself.Nita Beck wrote:Oh, Choccie, please don't feel shamed. It was not my intention whatsoever to make you feel shamed! Rather, I felt it important to point out what I thought was faulty information.
Nita has forgotten more about Flare than I will ever know.

I am in total awe of you, Nita, as I'm sure you know, I just felt I should post an "I'm not worthy" kind of reply. Your correction to the facts didn't make me cry (we're made of stern stuff in Surrey!)
(There, a few smileys to prove I'm seriously not upset!

Re: Exclude condition not applied
So it seems if content has both 'include' and 'exclude' conditions, the content is included. At least in this case.
Re: Exclude condition not applied
That's the expected functionality. Include appears to be intended to override Exclude (as, normally, everything is included unless you specify it shouldn't be). Generally speaking, it's best not to use the Include setting unless you know exactly where and why you're doing it. Unfortunately, the documentation of that feature is pretty unsatisfying.cayennep wrote:So it seems if content has both 'include' and 'exclude' conditions, the content is included.
