I've been giving relationship tables a whirl and I've been at it for 6 hours now trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've read the help file, I've read this board, I've started over and even rebuilt a topic from scratch just in case. All of that and the result is always the same: out of all the topics in my table, only one of them displays the links in the topic after a build.
I'm fairly certain I followed the help file instructions to a T but I obviously missed something.
.step 1 - add a new file to the Advanced folder in the Project Organizer
step 2 - create the actual content for it, adding relationships between the topic links in a row.
step 3 - insert a Relationships proxy in the topics where you want links to appear in the output,
step 4 - Associate with target.
When I added topics to the cells I used the default setting, which the help file says is "a two-way link. In other words, a link will be displayed in each topic involved, and that link will open the other topic." I also grouped them so that they would link to each other within a cell.
To troubleshoot, I did the following (and rebuilt after each change):
- I un-grouped the items in a cell (row 1, tasks). Made no difference.
- I noticed that all those tasks in row 1 included snippets in the topic so I added another task that didn't. Made no difference.
- I noticed that on the page that did include the links the proxy was within a p tag, so I went to a different topic and moved the proxy into a p tag and it worked!
Time to hold up that white flag.
