Madcap Flare for Programmers

Post by jjw »

I've just bought this new book by Thomas Tregner and David Owens. It's now available from Amazon in Kindle format. At first glance, it looks fascinating and a must-have for those who like to tinker. My only disappointment is that it doesn't deal with version 11.

Anyone else reading this?

Not yet, but I am sure that anything that the book covers also applies to v11. Over the course of the releases features got added, but none removed as far as I can recall.

I just grabbed a copy (several electronic formats) from O'Reilly - you can get more details and all the links for purchase from the publishing site at XML Press.

Look forward to reading it - I have certainly "re-used" some of Thomas' code before.

Thanks for sharing this information. I have just downloaded the Kindle version.

If you don't mind Kindle format, it's cheapest at Amazon ($9.94).

i saw that, but I went with the O'Reilly version as I get ePub as well as Kindle (and PDF) for just a few dollars more. And I prefer to read technical books on the iPad rather than the kindle, but I like to have the options.

Fair enough. I don't actually have a Kindle anyway, but I had an Amazon gift voucher burning a virtual hole in my virtual pocket.

Actually I see there are some references to version 11 - so I was wrong about that.

You need the Kindle app for your iPad!

I prefer to read on the Kindle (no backlight means its easier on my eyes) but for any form of technical publication (ie illustrations) I'll open it on the iPad. Also means I can read my stuff when the wife decides she wants to read her stuff at the same time (she buys her stuff on my account)...
