Creating New Targets

Post by LarryNewman »

I have been successfully creating targets in Flare 11, but yesterday, Flare 11 suddenly began crashing when I attempt to create a new target.

The error occurs in the Add File window when I select "Target" from the File Type input dropdown selector.

Madcap responds with a error dialog box that says "System ArgumentException occurred at (date/time)" Illegal characters in path.

I don't think anything changed on my system (Windows 7 Enterprise) on Intel i7 2.70GHz machine.

Any ideas? I have created over 60 targets in the same project using the same steps, but yesterday afternoon, no dice!

Note that I can select an existing target and copy it, so I don't think it's a limit on the number of targets I can create in a project. I also tried creating a new project then creating a new target and received the same error/crash.

UPDATE: I also uninstalled and reinstalled V11 and the 11.0.1 update, but the same error occurs. So, I'm thinking it must be a local system issue. Something had to have changed, I just don't know what it is.

Thanks,

Larry

That seems like a .NET error. Try uninstalling the .NET framework and installing .NET 4.5.1. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall Flare.

Thanks, Mike.

I contact our IT group and they will be re-installing the .net framework later today. My company currently runs .net 4.5.2 and it was working fine until something became corrupted earlier this week. Or, they could have pushed 4.5.2 to my machine without my knowledge. I plan to ask them to first try re-installing 4.5.2 and if that doesn't solve the error, I'll have them install 4.5.1.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.
