Varying Snippet conditions within same topic

Post by deeptikorwar »

Hi,

Is there a way to use a single snippet within the same topic and apply snippet conditions at the actual snippet level? Is there a way to add the html code to achieve this after inserting the snippet.

Example, I have a procedure that users can proceed in two ways. If they follow method 1, they have to use a table that has 6 rows if they follow method 2, they have to use a table that has 8 rows. I have used a condition named Topic 2 for the extra two rows. When I add this table to the topic, I want to exclude the two rows in the first instance of the snippet and have it in the second instance.

Thanks,
Deepti

No, you can't use different snippet conditions within the same topic - the snippet condition is set for the topic, not the instance of the snippet.

You'll probably have to break it up into 2-3 separate snippets.

Thank you Dave. I will submit a feature request on this one. I don't know if it is just me, but, I think such setting the condition at the instance level will be quite helpful in single-sourcing content.

I also submitted this feature request a few months ago.
I can't count the number of times I've created a table and wished for this feature.
