Mp4s displaying in IE

Post by carrollk »

Hi,
When I open a topic in IE that contains an mp4, the mp4 displays as a black box before I move my icon over it(see attached file) . When I move my icon over it, the control panel displays, and once I click Play the movie displays. What I would like to happen is that the mp4 displays the first frame of the movie when you open a topic (instead of a black box). Any ideas on how I can achieve this?

Thanks,
Karen

But is the first frame of your movie black?
It might be if you use a fade-in effect.

I insert mp4s as a HTML5 movie (Insert > Multimedia > HTML5 Movie), and the first frame is displayed in the browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Android).
Since the player is a browser control, how it looks and behaves will vary a little between each browser.

And if it does show the first frame, you probably want to change the movie to not fade in, but start right away.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. We don't have a fade in effect on our first frame. I set the Image Properties>Animation Effects>In Effect property to no effect instead of default but that hasn't changed anything. Any other ideas of what might be causing this and how I could get the first frame to display when the topic is loaded?

Thanks,
Karen
