Afternoon everyone,
I was wondering if somebody could help me work through a problem I'm experiencing since changing our HTML5 output from tri-pane to top navigation.
Our TOC contains a link to another flare project, so that others could add extra content into the support document specific to their region (I believe this is called runtime merging). The link to the new content (stored in the other flare project) would become visible in the navigation panel after the end user had downloaded the additional files. The problem is, top navigation appears to have a problem with this, as I'm unable to to get the additional menu item to show on the top nav menu even when all the correct files have been downloaded. Searching for the additional topics draws a blank also, so I'm guessing no runtime merging has occurred? The tri-pane target still works however.
Any ideas? I'm sure I've probably missed something.
Regards,
Glowin
Runtime merging with Top Nav not working
Re: Runtime merging with Top Nav not working
Over in this thread, Nita shared a link to the Flare 11 doc that explains that runtime merging isn't supported with the TopNav output:

"Flare's HTML5 Top Navigation skin does not support project merging."
Thanks,
Kristen

Re: Runtime merging with Top Nav not working
Hi Kristen,
That's a shame. I've put a features request in as runtime merging is something we use already. Luckily, there should be a way around it for us, though it'll mean our documentation isn't quite as slick as it could be. Still, it'd be a real shame not to take advantage of the much improved user interface offered by the top navigation output.
Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.

Re: Runtime merging with Top Nav not working
I also submitted a feature request for this yesterday. We could really use this capability.
