Search Bar Modification in Tripane

Post by Yaacov »

Hi,

I am a Newbie using Flare 11.1 on Windows 7
I am creating a Help that incorporates elements of the Top Navigation design with a Tripane help system.
In the Web medium, I’ve moved the search bar to the middle of the Header and now I want to make it longer to emphasize its power. Bottom line, I want the search bar to have the look and feel of the Top Navigation search bar, but in the Tripane header.
I have been able to make the border/frame of the search text field longer and responsive to screen size with a skin.css file, but I am having trouble with the search text field. I can make the field longer, but it will not be responsive to the screen size.
I’ve used the discussion in viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17175#p90939 (thanx Steve).
as a resource to get as far as I have, but I need some “Advance Developer” help to complete the task.

Thanx in advance

You might be able to add a style to your CSS using this process: open the output in a browser, right-click the search input field, and select Inspect Element from the context menu. You should see the style for it in one of the smaller panes and even change the width (which is only temporary). Note that there are two Style.css files (unless you changed the default CSS in your project). You can mouse over the link to see the full directory. You can add the same style to your main CSS with the preferred width.

Working in the output css file is not ideal and I would still lose the responsive behavior when re-sizing the screen.

Sorry, our internet went down while I was attempting to edit my post. I was going to suggest Dave Lee's technique for using a javascript to add a custom stylesheet.

As for responsive design, just use percent instead of pixels.
