Word import error - cannot find XML file

Post by CJecdc »

I am getting the following error:

Could not find file 'C:\Users\<path>\AAA111.xml'.

which is stopping my import of a batch of files.

I am testing Flare as a new product (i.e. newbie) and all has gone well with importing from Word until this attempt to import 58 Word docx files into a new project. This is the biggest import I have tried. While there are many Word files, each is only 144KB (total 8.12MB).

AAA111.docx is the first file in the directory to be imported and I can see that Flare creates XML files in the directory it is importing from, and AAA111.xml exists there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Some further input - the entire error message:

Converting Word document: AAA111.docx...
MS Word Importer (Internal Error): Could not find file 'C:\Users\<path>\Batch20150827\AAA111.xml'.
Cancelled

It occurs after the Character Style Mapping.

I spoke with Flare Technical Support today and learned that this is a known bug in Flare. The error occurs when you use the back button in the import gui. To avoid the error, do not use the back button while importing a Word document, ie, while selecting new topic headings, mapping styles, etc. If you make a mistake, just cancel and start the import over, rather than using the back button to correct it.
