Flare 11 hangs when a project is bound to TFS

• 1. Create a project in Flare 10. For source control, bind to TFS.
  2. Install Flare 11, delete Flare 10. Open the legacy project as expected.
  3. Bind the legacy project to TFS as was done in Flare 10.
  4. Edit and save a project file.

Result: Flare hangs for 10-30 seconds.

Editing and saving project files in Notepad++ also causes a 10-30 second hang.

As a workaround, I unbound the project from TFS. This eliminated the hangups. I now manage check-outs and check-ins manually. While this workaround eliminates most of the pain, I want to find a solution that will make binding in Flare work as designed with acceptable performance.

I'm a little confused. In step 3, are you trying to bind all the files again? There was no need to do so when we upgraded.

We're having a similar issue, but it only seems to be affecting some of our users. There are 5 members on our doc team, and 2 of us experience this issue to the point that it makes Flare unusable if it's bound to TFS.

I bound to TFS for the first time last week (the project I work on was merged to our main project for the first time), and had to unbind almost immediately. Every time I started Flare, I could get maybe 4-5 clicks into the interface and then it would start hanging on every click.There were times when it appeared to never recover (in other words, hung for 5 minutes or longer before I gave up and killed Flare in Task Manager). I currently do not have a Visual Studio license (working on it), so I don't have the option of manually checking in/out.

Is this a known issue with Flare 11?

It's hard to say whether your problem is related to the source control+Flare hanging issue I'm experiencing, but you can look in your Windows Event Viewer and see if there are any interesting errors around the time that Flare hung.

In my case, MadCap has suggested that I recreate/repair my Windows profile, but I'm not convinced that's going to help.
