Index text links/xrefs

Hello,

I've got an index working with page numbers as hyperlinks/xrefs (in PDF), but is it possible to get the text to also be a hyperlink/xref, so that the user can click on either the page number or the index word?

I don't believe that's possible, and I wouldn't expect that behavior anyway. Say an index term appears on four different pages in the PDF so there are four page links. If the index term were also a link, which of the four different pages is it supposed to point to?
