Hello all,
I am new to Flare. I assumed it would be as easy to use as other writing tools (Frame, RoboHelp, ArborText, xMetal) but it is not for sissies (Note that I am a sissy).
Does anyone have a quick start guide on how to import a word document? I've read thousands of pages of manuals and am not finding the answers I'm looking for.
I've made some progress, by experimenting but I'm about 25% complete. At this point, I wonder if it would be just as easy to recreate all of the topics.
Any help is appreciated.
Carol

Carol, I assume you already looked at Flare's very short video on importing Word (more a best practices checklist) and the online help.
I'm also new to Flare + the only writer at a startup trying to create the doc architecture while learning (with a looming deadline).
I postponed the Word import to last because I thought it would be easy. However, after spending more than half the day yesterday importing and rejecting the results, I am still only 50% to where I need to be. Like you, I considered copying/pasting from Word to Flare ... but thinking about the number of tables in my reference guide made me throw up a little in my mouth.
I am about to watch a free 1-hour webinar called Importing Microsoft Word Files into MadCap Flare Projects. I can't yet comment on whether it will help me finish my import without blood loss, but I've watched other videos by this instructor and he's really good.
