Why is it that when I try to insert an X-Ref, a hyperlink with no page reference gets inserted instead?
And yes, I am certain I am selecting an X-Ref and not a hyperlink.

I suspect that your primary target is an online target and/or you have the XML Editor set to show the Web layout and the online (default) medium, so the xref looks like an ordinary hyperlink, which is reasonable for an online target.
If you make a print target the primary target AND/OR change XML Editor to show the Print layout and the default medium AND use Tools > Update Cross References to update the xref, does the xref then use the right format, the one with a page reference?

It worked! Thanks, Nita!
The only thing that didn't match up is that my primary target is always PDF. I'm still trying to sell the idea of online help. Shrug.
