Generated TOC Page Layout

Post by amycatesch »

According to Flare's help, an auto-generated TOC is:
- placed just after the Page Type "Title" (great!)
- given the page layout of the topic just preceding it, which of course, is the Title Page (not so cool)

My Title page has a large logo centered on it. I don't want the generated TOC to have the same page layout as the title page. How can I get around this? The only thing I can think of is to make the Title page layout just have a blank body frame and then manually edit the topic I'm using for the Title page to get the required look.

My solution would be not to have Flare auto-generate the TOC. Instead, I'd create a contents.htm topic and put an output TOC proxy in it. Then I'd put a TOC entry for that topic on the TOC. Then I could assign whatever page layout I'd want. (I actually have a Contents page layout.)

Flare's auto-generated TOC is a rather recent enhancement to Flare. My understanding of it is that it is intended for folks who want to make a quick PDF or Word doc, perhaps as a review draft -- not as an otherwise publishable documentation -- and don't want to go through the trouble of setting up a contents topic, contents page layout, yada yada yada.
