I'm trying to find the best way to display the current version of a particular topic.
Right now, my file names say something like "mycooltopic1.0.0.htm" so I know what version I'm using. I display the file name and the page using a snippet. I really don't think this is the best way to go and I've struggled to find a different solution. I don't think variables will work since I'd have to create a new variable for each topic.
Is there a better solution that someone is using?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Help with Displaying Topic Version
I use a variable which I update when the version changes. Easy and quick.

Re: Help with Displaying Topic Version
I appreciate the fast response. However, I'm not sure if that will work for what I'm trying to do. Maybe it will, but here's a better example of what I'm trying to pull off:
Let's say I create three topics today:
topic a (version 1.0.0)
topic b (version 1.0.0)
topic c (version 1.0.0)
over the course of a few weeks, the versions of each change to:
topic a (version 1.0.1)
topic b (version 1.5.0)
topic c (version 2.0.0)
I want to display the updated unique version of each topic at the bottom of the respective page. It seems that I'd need to create a unique variable for each topic (which does use what you posted), but I'm hoping there's a better way to go about this.

Re: Help with Displaying Topic Version
You could add a title element to the head of your files and insert the System. Title variable into your page layout. You would have to remember to Change this when you rename the file though...
<html xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsoftware.com/Schemas/MadCap.xsd" MadCap:lastBlockDepth="4" MadCap:lastHeight="723" MadCap:lastWidth="562">
<head> <title>Topic A Version 1.0.1</title>
</head>
<body>

Re: Help with Displaying Topic Version
Well, I think there is not a direct solution for that.
Manually changing the version each time will also end up in forgetting it.
To my opinion the best thing is to ask MadCap to add a system variable in a next update: changed date/time
After all 'Date modified' of a file is available in a windows OS and I suppose also in another OS.
I also think it would be to difficult to have a kind of automatic version numbering. Imagine that you have to change a certain topic 5 times a day for ever what reason!

Re: Help with Displaying Topic Version
On top of that, if you use version control outside of Flare, I suspect a variable like that wouldn't work.
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2024r2.
