I have a problem whereby every time I try to drag a snippet or image from the Content Explorer to a topic, Flare "encounters a problem". At one stage I repeatedly sent the crash report to inundate their tech support/whoever in the hope of some action being taken (doesn't appear to have worked...).
Is it just me?
Crash on dragging files. Really aggravating.
Re: Crash on dragging files. Really aggravating.
(the crash occurs the moment the mouse crosses into the Editor area, not on drop, if that makes any difference.)

Re: Crash on dragging files. Really aggravating.
I can totally understand why you're aggravated. Clearly something is amiss.
First, try "the usual suspects":
-- Close Flare, then delete the Analyzer, Output, and Project\Users folders. Reopen the project and give Flare a few minutes to rebuild the Analyzer folder. Then try the drag-and-drop operation. Fixed?
If not, then you should probably reinstall/repair the .NET Framework. Then reopen Flare and try again. Fixed?
If still not, then you should probably reinstall Flare. (BTW, if you've got custom keyboard shortcuts and/or macros, those are saved in a file whose name [forgive me] I can't remember. [HEY GANG, help me out here! WHAT'S THE FILENAME?] I believe you can make a copy of that file someplace and then, after reinstalling Flare, you can drop that back in. Otherwise, you'll have to recreate the shortcuts and/or macros.)
And if still not, then you'll need to contact MadCap Tech Support.

RETIRED, but still fond of all the Flare friends I've made. See you around now and then!

No, #Zerozeddy, it's not just you. Still this issue is propagated from Flare version to Flare version. I've stopped contacting support but still send the Crash Reports. It's now 2016, 10 years since the first post here. Support's response is delete some stuff and update, uninstall, reinstall .NET to the latest version.
I would suspect that the madcap coders are inundated with bugs they just cannot fix OR their code is a bowl of pasta. Nonetheless, it's still the sharpest tool in the shed for now. I shy away from the Adobe Kool-Aid, yet must from time to time (client-dependent decision).
Version 4 had some spectacular crashes on XP. The app would just, POOF, go away. Then error messages. Finally in something like version 6 they introduced exception handling with a big nasty dialog about the error...better than POOF.
So, about $12,000.00 in purchases later, I'm still here (I insist all my clients purchase a copy of Flare, though I own a copy).

Re: Crash on dragging files. Really aggravating.
I thought Flare was crashing on me recently but it turned out it was realllly dragging. I moved the files from a network share to my local PC to see if that would help and it didn't. I have 12 GB RAM, so I figured it wasn't that. So I looked up the system requirements and realized I didn't have .NET 4.5 on my machine. I don't know why didn't prompt me for it when I was installing v11, but since I installed .NET 4.5, it hasn't been dragging as much. That's probably not what you're seeing, but it's something to check.
