After making updates to my project, I attempted to save the changes and got this message: "File not checked out. Skipping file" So I could not save any changes.
Some background information that may shed light
1. This happened upon my first time opening the project after having my computer replaced, all my files were transferred from the old computer to the new computer.
2. Upon opening the project, I did select "Get latest Version"
3. During my absence, one team member made updates, saved the changes and published the project 1 time
4. We use TFS for Source Control (unsure of which version)
5. I checked the Source Control tab on the Project Properties and the project appears to still be bound to source control.
Any idea what the problem is?
Thanks,
Sallie Leo

Hi, Sallie,
Silly question -- you may have gotten the latest, but did you actually check the files out?
Usually Flare tries to check out files when it's saving, but I've encountered this issue if someone else has a file checked out and it's locked (check-out lock). I've also seen a similar issue arise if your workspace is configured as a Local workspace (Flare seems to prefer Server workspaces -- this may be documented, actually).
I'd start there -- checking if someone else has checked out and locked the files, and workspace configuration.

Matty,
Previously, my project properties for Source Control were set to automatically check out a topic when changes were saved. Prior to making changes to the topic in question I was sure that no one else had the doc checked out.
Thank you,
Sallie

Hi Sallie,
Make sure your TFS workspace has a name exactly matching your computer name (where you have TFS client and Flare installed), e.g. MYHOSTNAME, and does not contain anything else. It turns out that Flare TFS integration only works if a workspace name matches computer name exactly. I wish this was documented somewhere at least.
