Page layout - decoration with a condition tag

Post by sdcinvan »

Hello all,

I am using a decoration in my cover page layout that has several lines of text variables. To one line, I have assigned a condition tag so that it will only be printed when the condition is flagged from the TOC. However, no matter what I have tried, I cannot prevent that line from being printed (to PDF).

Although it is really difficult (no built-in code view option) to assign and edit conditions placed inside a page layout and including an inserted decoration, I do believe I have assigned the condition correctly.

Condition tags work without trouble throughout my documents with this one exception.

Any ideas about what I might try or is this a Flare bug?

Thank you,
Shawn

Hi Shawn

I use this feature all the time and have never had a problem. You can edit the page layout in the internal editor if you want to apply conditions manually. Or am I missing something? You mention flagging conditions from the TOC?

Just to clarify, in your TARGET (not your TOC) have you set the condition to EXCLUDE in all targets where you don't want it to display?

Conditions are included by default UNLESS they are specifically included, and an explicit INCLUDE trumps an EXCLUDE.

Also, you CAN look at the code behind a page layout. In the Content Explorer right-click the page layout and on the menu point to Open with then click Internal Text Editor (or whatever editor you want to use).

Thanks for your replies! :)

I think you each pointed out the silliness of my mistake (I hope). I'll confirm your suggestions later today.

Yes, it works! Thanks a million! Conditions are one of those features that I literally set up (a long time ago) and forgot how to use. LOL

It's in the Target Editor dummy! :) Thanks again.
