Thanks for the ongoing support. Here is something that will help me save some time and heartache:
I have a file open, say SubaruWRoX.htm.
In the Content Explorer, I have 60 content folders.
How do I find which folder SubaruWRoX.htm is in? Currently, I open each and look through all the filenames in each.
I need to know this for two reasons: 1) to help locate the file when subsequently mapping CSH IDs and 2) to find the stylesheet used by SubaruWRoX.htm, because that CSS is named after the folder that SubaruWRoX.htm is in.
Thanks,
Sean
Finding where a file is
Re: Finding where a file is
Hey, Sean,
There's a couple methods.
The most straightforward, I think, would be using the Windows Explorer search. You should be able to just type the file name and it will display the directory for you.
Another method -- if you know where the entry is in the TOC, you can right-click the TOC entry and select Locate in Explorer. Flare will bring you to the file location in the Content Explorer.

Thanks! (Was hoping for a visual clue within Flare.) I appreciate the responsiveness of everyone in these forums.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: Finding where a file is
I created a custom keyboard shortcut for Locate in Explorer so that I didn't have to bother to first find the topic in a TOPC. My shortcut is Ctrl+L. Works like a charm, straight from the XML Editor. In fact, I created it as a global shortcut -- rather than an XML Editor shortcut -- so it works on any kind of file.

You can also select Locate in Explorer from the Project menu, to locate the current open file.

Re: Finding where a file is
You can also just hover over the tab for the file, along the top of the main work area, and see what path it shows. (I didn't even know about the Locate in Explorer thing!)
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2024r2.

If you have the topic open, click in the topic, right-click Topic Properties, and click the General tab. The Location is the full path to the topic.
If you only know the name, in the View tab of the ribbon click File List. In the File List window, in the Filter field type or paste the file name with extension, or with * as a wild card, for example *widgets* to find all files with widgets anywhere in their names. Press Enter and it will display a list of all matching files showing the Name and Path for each file. This path is relative to the main project folder.

Re: Finding where a file is
I LOVE the Locate in Explorer button. I use it so frequently that I right-clicked the button in the ribbon, and selected "Add to Quick Access Toolbar" so I can always see it at the top of the screen.
I love Nita's suggestion to create a keyboard shortcut for it. I'm going to go do that right now.
