Word 2016 Flare Does not work

Hi,

Anyone having issues with output to word 2016?

No matter what I do to change the master page layout its not reflected in the word output.
I can test with output to pdf or xps and it all works fine (adding columns, changing background colour) but none of this shows in my word output.

Not sure what else to do to test if this is a bug? or an issue with the new word file format

My guess is Word 2016 is not supported, it came out after the latest version of Flare.

I take it the output to Word 2013 (or earlier) was fine?

I use Word 2016 and have seen no issues at all with Flare 11, that is, no issues that I also didn't see with earlier versions of Word. Are you certain that there isn't some conditioning coming in someplace? Do you use the same TOC with your Word output as with your PDF output? I do know that Word output and PDF output that use the same page layouts, stylesheets, table stylesheets, and content files (as in topics and snippets) will look in places significantly different, and I think it's all how Flare generates each. They are simply not equivalent outputs.

Sorry that I'm not helping you to solve your issue, but I wanted at least to answer you "Anyone seeing Word 2016 issues..." question.

I have used madcap since its early days so know its quirks which there are many

CONFIRMATION FLARE DOES NOT WORK WITH LATEST ISSUE OF WORD

simple test

take a new project create a version with only output as word and run it yes you have a word output with contents, one page and a glossary.
Now go back and alter page layout put a border at top of main layout area.

rerun generation in word no border???

if you now add a target PDF and run again..................hay wow you have a border

Clearly Microsoft latest release of word has created an issue, unfortunately now updates are free and automatic this is a problem

This is not an issue with Word 2016

Formatting such as background colors, borders, and columns from Masterpages and Page Layouts have never worked in any Word outputs.

Quick question for you experts:

This thread talks about Word OUTPUTS, but have any of you experienced problems with Word INPUTS? We are shortly going to have Office 2016 imposed on us, so any of our source material that needs to be edited after that will, I assume, be saved as Word 2016 format. The source documents are currently quite tightly controlled, with only a limited set of Word styles allowed, but we have a delivery a month or two after this upgrade and I'm a little nervous that it might all just break.

Can you offer any reassurance?
