Flare crashed on start - Catapult exception

Hi Madcaps,

If anyone is on line this Sunday morning I'd be grateful if you have any idea about this. On using the normal shortcut (and I later tried the'long-cut') I get this error: http://screencast.com/t/red2CT6Bt9h. Basically it reports an erro encountered and "The invocation of the constructor on type 'App Catapult Main Window' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception'

I have tried a reboot to no avail. Nothing has changed that I know of
Of course this happens when I'm finalising the text for a release on Tuesday!!!!!

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

No good idea here. I'd try an uninstall and reinstall if you haven't already. If available try a different system, as far as I know you can use the same license key on two systems as long as you do not use Flare on both systems at the same time. Which version of Windows do you use? Might want to look into repairing the .NET runtime. More guessing here, sadly these error messages mean nothing to anyone.

I'll try all of this. I'm on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1

Reinstalled Flare same error.

To my knowledge nothing has changed on the machine.

Posted for completeness.

Madcap support advised me that this was often caused by font corruption. It turned out finally to be a .NET corruption so that needed repairing. However the method to try and fix things may be useful in other situations:

• To remove the fontset: Search for a file with extension of .mcfst in the folder c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Madcap Software\Flare, Delete the file then restart Flare
• If this doesn't work, and possibly quicker to do this anyway: delete the Flare folder. This is temporay and will be recreated on restart of Flare
• If this doesn'r work use the Event Viewer to see if there are any recent event errors. In my case a .NET error was seen.
• In Control Panel, Programs locate .NET and run a repair
• If this doesn't work download the MS ,NET repair tool and use that - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/downloa ... x?id=30135
