Link Viewer not showing TOC in Linked From
Link Viewer not showing TOC in Linked From
I'm looking at a topic and trying to determine where it's used. When I click the Link Viewer it shows no incoming links. However, there is a TOC entry that links to it. Is this expected behavior? How would I determine whether a topic is truly being linked to?

Hi Suzette. What version of Flare are you using? For Flare 12, I saw a similar issue just last week (early April 2016) with images that I know for a fact are linked to multiple topics but the Link Viewer reported as no incoming links. I reported it to MadCap Tech Support but they could not reproduce it. Please be sure to report this as a bug. I suspect there is an issue lurking.

Thanks Nita. I'll look at doing that. I'm on version 11 right now. I suppose that in the meantime I'll need to look into using the reports for this purpose. I just hope they are accurate as I would really like to clean out the project if possible.

Do you have Analyzer rather than running the report in Flare? Nita, did your example show up properly in Analyzer or was it broken there too? (Just clutching at straws, really.)

Choccie, I didn't have any broken links. The images were still nicely linked to topics. No issues there at all. It's just that the Link Viewer showed that the images weren't linked to anything, which obviously wasn't true.

Re: Link Viewer not showing TOC in Linked From
AFAIK, links are in the Analyzer database - so close the project and delete the Analyzer folder.
That should usually fix any issues with either links not showing, or showing old links.

Sorry, poor choice of words on my part. I meant, was the DISPLAY of links not working.Nita Beck wrote:Choccie, I didn't have any broken links. The images were still nicely linked to topics. I'd do as Dave suggests, he usually knows what he's talking about!

Re: Link Viewer not showing TOC in Linked From
Yeah, I didn't even have to do that "usual suspect" trick of ditching the Analyzer folder. The mere act of closing the project and opening it again resolved the issue. But it was definitely not right that for the duration of a work session, for every image I edited with Capture, and only those images, their association with links became lost. The pattern of failure was very noticeable.

We just saw this same issue. Any resolutions for it?
