Top Navigation menu hyperlinks

Post by Titus »

Hello,

We've just upgraded from Flare v10 to Flare v12, largely for its sleek Top Navigation output.

In migrating our old online help (which was tri-pane), we wanted to replace the menu links in the Top Navigation skin with URLs to other company and doc-related websites. I can't figure out how to do this... is it even possible? Far as I can tell, it juts uses the links in the TOC used in that target..

The example here seems to have accomplished it, but I suspect they may be creating the master page differently: http://docs.toonboom.com/

Your help is much appreciated!

If you add an item to the TOC, you can just type in any URL in the Link box, e.g. http://www....
It doesn't have to be linked to a topic in your project.

Wow! It's that easy, eh? I had no idea--well I feel sheepish!

Thanks so much, Dave!

As a follow-up, how easy would it be to make those links open in New windows/tabs?

Well, it's not very obvious though - I'd never actually tried it until you asked!

To open the link in a new window/tab, open the TOC item properties Advanced tab, and set Open in Browser Frame to _blank (which means a new tab).

Aha! Spectacular. Thanks again!!

(And no, I suppose it wasn't all that clear about TOC hyperlinks, but still...)
