Hi Madcaps,
Does Flare support these? Or is there a way to achieve this without Flare support?
If not (yet) supported is there a plan to include them?
Thank you............................ liz
Can Flare use pretty URLs?
Re: Can Flare use pretty URLs?
lizat, with the assumption you mean this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_URL, the short answer is yes. However, you are sort of asking a loaded-question because if the essence of your inquiry has to do with search optimization, that is something that can be tweaked with Flare and have nothing to do with whether or not the URL is "pretty", or tweaked outside of Flare and have everything to do with the URL.
Re: Can Flare use pretty URLs?
Thank you. Yes, I meant that I what to use Semantic URL's. Primarily so the user is faced with a simpler, understandable and memorable address. I am authoring for an intranet so SEO is not so important. So if they are supported how do I use them? I have already searched help and get such a long list of topics non of which obviously seem to be what I need to look at. happy to read up if I know where to go.

Re: Can Flare use pretty URLs?
lizat, perhaps I'm not understanding what your intentions are. Flare shouldn't care what the URL is. If the URL is valid, it's valid. Flare wouldn't have anything to do with converting the URL, such as a website like www.tinyurl.com would or some redirect or other technology. Once the URL is valid and working (i.e. you can enter it into a browser address bar and navigate to some web site), that same URL address (regardless if pretty or not) could be used as a hyperlink in Flare. Exactly how to make an ugly URL a pretty one is not my expertise. All I'm suggesting is that if the URL is pretty (to the extent it is working/valid and what you desire), it would work in Flare.
As I read you are developing for an Intranet, in all likelihood the address cannot be accessed from outside of the network without first having to logon to that network. That would be the case regardless of the URL(s).

Re: Can Flare use pretty URLs?
lizat, this wiki article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_URL states "The implementation of semantic URLs involves URL mapping via pattern matching or transparent rewriting techniques. As this usually takes place on the server side..." I take this mean implementation is outside of Flare. But as I've previously stated, once implemented, Flare can make use of the address (URL).
