Hi
I want to place 2 table side by side. Why? In some rows I have images and then the procedure in the other column has big spaces between steps. How can I put 2 independent tables side by side, or, alternatively, define my topic as 2 columns.
Also, please remind me how I do independent autonumbers for each column.

Hi Joanna. I'm not sure your proposed solution of two tables will help all that much. You would probably need frames to create independent columns but I'm not sure. 
In any case, if you're adamant about your idea, I can suggest two "work-arounds". 
First, insert one table with two columns. In the column where you do not want a large space, merge all cells. Another solution is to use nested tables. By this I mean insert a single row and single column table into a cell of an exiting table.
