Mapping Styles???

Post by ElaineB »

Hi all,

I hope I can find some help here. I've browsed through a bunch of the topics but don't really understand what it is I need to do.

I'm trying to take a huge RoboHelp project into a Flare project.

Issue: They've used multi-level lists within RoboHelp (which are not technically a "list" per se) and have about 11,000 topics with these. The numbers, bullets, alpha letters for these lists do NOT show up in Flare. It just lists the paragraph instructions with no list whatsoever. This is a huge issue and certainly makes us rethink getting Flare instead of continuing to use RoboHelp.

I've seen a few topic responses where people advise to "create a Flare style and map it to the RH style" so that it will fix it. What does that mean??? Create a number list style in the default stylesheet.css and then, WHAT? How do I map this? Where do I map this? I have no idea what the responses are saying when they suggest this. But I do know we cannot manually update 11,000 procedure topics with numbers, letters, bullets - - that is ridiculous and based on how popular this "multi list style" in RH is, I'm sure this has to be a common problem. I've reached out to MadCap support and they are confused by the whole issue and don't seem to be helping.

PLEASE help???? I am familiar with Flare but have not done ANY kind of importing setup on a project before, so this is making me nuts.

Thanks,
Elaine

Can you post the XML content of one of the RoboHelp "multi lists" so we can see what you are up against?

Here is the way it is in RoboHelp, followed by how we would like it in Flare:

You could set up your stylesheet so that p.Style1 uses the autonumbering feature. I don't use that way of doing lists but I'm sure someone who does will be along soon to give you some tips. Hope that works as a starting point.
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2024r2.

How do I do that? Set up pStyle1 to use an autonumbering feature?

The issue will be, pStyle1 is also used on some items that are not meant to be lists, but I would think cleaning up that portion would be easier than manually creating lists for 11,000 topics.
