PDF output with tracked changes temporarily accepted?

Post by Zanderxo »

We use tracked changes in Flare when developing a new version of one of our PDF manuals.
Problem is, the PDF output does not show any of the tracked edits until they have been accepted.
Is there any switch one can set that causes the PDF to be output "as if" all changes had been accepted?

If the answer is no, I suppose a workaround would be to export the project, and then accept all the changes in the temporary copy of the project before creating the PDF.
So that brings up a second question: is there any way to "Accept All" changes for a project without having to visit every page?

Many thanks!

If I understand you, you want to output to PDF with Tracked Changes shown. That functionality was added in Flare 12. For more info, see http://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare12/ ... hanges.htm.

So, if I upgrade to v 12, I can output a PDF that shows all of my tracked changes as if I had executed an "Accept All Changes" on the underlying HTML source files?

Then I didn't understand you correctly. No, you can't tell Flare 12 to output to PDF **as if** Tracked Changed had been accepted, and then somehow reverse that acceptance back in Flare after making the PDF. Rather, you can have the Tracked Changes appear in the PDF as tracked (underline, strikethrough, change bars, etc.).

A workaround would be to make a COPY of the project, accept the changes in the copy, and build the PDF from the copy. And you wouldn't need to upgrade to Flare 12 to use this workaround.

Great. Is there a way to execute an "Accept All Changes" on an entire project, or must I visit every HTML page and do this one-by-one?

I'm pretty sure that there isn't an across-the-project or even an across-a-folder way to accept all changes.

However, you don't have to go on a manual hunt by visiting every topic on a TOC or in the Content Explorer. You can quickly get a list of all topics (and I think snippets, too) with tracked changes in them. Go to View > Project Analysis > Files With Changes. Flare will scan your project to build the list. Once the list loads, you can double-click a row to open that file.
