Feedback button JS for Top Nav yields slow results

OK, here's what I have cobbled together for a click event for my new TopNav toolbar "Email" button.

This produces:

in the email Subject line in my test project. It's functional, but the emailer program (Outlook or whatever) opens the new email window slowly; it takes one full second, by which time the user probably will have clicked the button twice - not ideal.
I'm sure there's a way to do this that makes for a faster load, and in fact I had some .js before that did just that, but can't find it now. I'm betting that someone out there will have a simple correction for this. Anyone?

Hmm, found Dave Lee's code at viewtopic.php?f=13&t=20563, which is def cleaner, but there's still a lag. Must not be the code, then.
