Changes made to a style not saving into style sheet

Post by Dee Vincent-Day »

I have encountered an interesting issue. I have a style, p.note, this had a light colour background and black text. I was asked to change this to a dark colour background and a light text colour. I edited the style and saved the style sheet. So far so good! The topic pages using the style all displayed as I expected them to. However when I performed a build the notes were all in the old style.

I left it over night and tried again the next day. Same problem. Viewing the topic pages I saw what I was expecting, light font on dark background. In the build I was getting the old light background and dark font. I tried opening the style sheet editor and all was as expected. Dark background and light text. But each time I performed a build I was getting the wrong result.

I then decided to open the style sheet in notepad. To my surprise I discovered the font and background colours were the old colours and not the new ones. I manually changed the colour to the correct hex code and saved the style sheet. I then ran the build again and all is well.

I am now on a mission to track down why this happened and why Flare was displaying my changes when I viewed the topics yet they were not in the style sheet. The obvious answer is that there is another style sheet somewhere. I have looked in all the other style sheets we have and none of them have a p.note style contained within. I was definitely using the correct style sheet in the build and that is the style sheet I edited when I made my changes.

If anyone has any ideas I would welcome them.

Were you making the changes in the right *medium* in your stylesheet?

Yes I checked that. I made the change all medium settings. This is why I am at a loss to understand what has happened.

You wonder if there's another stylesheet coming into play.

First, what stylesheet is your target associated with? Open the target, find the stylesheet setting, and click the Edit button. Does that open the stylesheet you thought you had edited?

Second, are topics themselves linked to a stylesheet and, if so, is if the stylesheet you thought you were editing?

I'm grasping at straws a bit, just trying to help you pinpoint the source of the issue.
